Divided Views on Virtual Currency

written by 20409 Park Seo Yeon Virtual currency was born in 2008 amid the financial crisis. At that time, complex derivatives, reckless credit approvals and the subprime mortgage crisis pushed the existing banking and monetary systems to their limits. The government and central banks opted for quantitative easing, which would print more money, but this would lead to a decline in the value of the money on the market. Overcoming the crisis through quantitative easing eventually led to a bigger crisis.  Virtual currency emerged with voices of concern that the problems of the existing floating exchange rate system should be solved. The value of the method of breaking the framework of the existing financial system has been in the spotlight. It is a currency used in a virtual space without real things, such as bills and coins. written by 10203 Kim Dan Hee, 10618 Lee Seo Ahn & 20811 Park Shin Hyung The Food and Drug Administration defines genetically modified organism (GMO) as a term that consumers and popular media commonly used to describe a plant, animal or microorganism that has had its genetic material altered through genetic engineering. GMO products have been commercially sold for roughly 30 years after the first genetically modified tomato Flavr Savr was invented.  Even though the first genetically modified tomato became available for consumers in 1994, governments have evaluated and approved its safety.  GMOs began in order to endow desirable traits to crops and vegetables that appear on our tables. Modifications allowed farmers to develop pest-resistant and cheaper crops. For nearly 30 years, GMO products have been welcomed as the solution to future food consumption problems and, at the same time, raised concerns about their safety.  Advocates assure the safety of GMO products since there has b

Korea Practices Climate Awareness

written by 10421 Lim Hyun Seo   The climate crisis is no longer the future’s story. The disasters and damages caused by the abnormal climate from a few years ago reveal the climate crisis has hit right in front of us. Heat waves and long rainy seasons show climate crises not only in the Arctic or some countries in Africa but also in the Republic of Korea.   As the seriousness of the climate crisis grows, the urgency of its response is also becoming clear. The concept of carbon neutrality has emerged, and it has become an international norm in societies. Carbon neutrality is now an irresistible and secure goal for mankind to achieve.   The Paris Agreement suggests we should keep the global average temperature rise below 2 degrees Celsius compared to the time before industrialization.  In order to participate in the international community’s efforts to prepare for climate change, Korea has established a LEDS (long-term low greenhouse gas emission development strategy) and will move towar
