Searching product details to purchase the product has now become an obsolete way of shopping. These days, we can make a purchase decision by watching videos and communicating with the person in the video. 

 

This is a new version of virtual commerce. 

 

In the new media era, short-form video content aimed at  Generation Z, who is more familiar with videos than pictures, has become a major marketing strategy. Large enterprises such as Google Shopping is also launching new forms of  V-commerce platforms.

 

Google’s ‘Shop-loop’

Shoploop is an app that sells makeup products. When you open Shoploop, a video of someone using the product suddenly appears. The details about the product are only marked very small, and the video takes up most of the screen.

 

 If you scroll down, other videos keep popping up. It is an infinite shopping video platform.

 

Every video of Shoploop is less than 90 seconds long. Users can view the video and post comments or press “Like”. 

 

Shoploop is a platform for beauty content creators, influencers, and online store operators. They can create an account and upload videos promoting their products.


Why Is This Special?

Shoploop captures the shopping patterns of Generation Z. Consumers do not log on to buy certain products, but to watch interesting videos. Then they find a product they like. They don’t have to search the reviews of the product, because video reviews are the main contents of this platform.


Short videos and the reviews of creators about the product are two key points that drive the  Generation Z’s consumption. 


V-Commerce contains these key functions at once. Consumers no longer have to run around the online websites to find product information and reviews. They can check different information about products at one website. V-Commerce platforms transformed the complex shopping process into a single step.


As digital technology and consumers’ interest in it continues to grow, the v-commerce platform will continue to grow and develop. Without attention, it will develop at an alarming speed in the blink of an eye.  


In the 21st century where shopping can be done with some simple moves, consumers and enterprises will have to keep pace with these flows.
