Different Perspectives on the Pandemic part 2

Image
written by 20725 Jung Jaewon   Part two of this five-part series, the Opinion section of the  PRESS  took an investigated look at China and how they reacted to the pandemic early on. China   China, the origin of COVID-19, was the most dangerous country with the highest number of infections until early this year. The number of infected people quickly increased to 80,000. This number was a huge gap compared to South Korea, which had the second-highest number of infected people in the spring. In the early stages of the virus, China declared martial law to prevent infection by controlling its people. China has not shared its data about COVID-19. Its government claims that China is not the origin of this epidemic. Wuhan, China, was the first region to be infected by this virus. However, the Communist Party of China claims the pandemic did not have come from China due to its quarantine measures. They also praise themselves for their quick action to quarantine and the cooperation betw

written by 10308 Kim Chaewon, 10817 Jeong Daeun  20228 Hwang Uikyu, 20725 Jung Jaewon,   In 2020, a great crisis spread quickly to become a worldwide pandemic, which threw the world into chaos. The whole world has become unable to live like before and is trying to correct each other’s problems. Day-to-day confirmed patient-related messages have become a necessity, not an option in our present life. Life without a mask is hard to think of now. More than ever, students spend more time at home because of school closures and are taking online classes. Instead of going to the office, adults are working from home while taking care of their families. World leaders and people have blamed each other for the spread and handling of the virus. Some countries have become secretive about their research, vaccine development, data and numbers of COVID-19 patients. Other countries are following the World Health Organization protocols and working closely together to find a cure.  However, the virus

Personal Privacy Versus People’s Right To Know part 5

written by  10308 Kim Chaewon In the final of the five part series titled "Personal Privacy Versus People's Rights to Know," the Opinion department looked into why people are arguing that it is their right to know. People’s Right to Know   COVID-19 is a highly contagious virus since it can be transmitted into the air by saliva from coughs or other ways. Not only is it contagious, but it has fatalistic power, resulting in several deaths by the infection. If there is a perception of the fact that preventing further confirmed cases is the most important thing in this situation, the exposure of COVID-19’s movements should be made by the right to know.  The government has announced the movement for the people’s right to know. As a result, it was relatively effective in preventing the spread of the virus. For example, due to the tracing of the superconductor’s movement, such as patient 101, it became a little bit easier to stop the spread of COVID-19.   My Opinion

written by  20228 Hwang Uikyu In part four of the five part series titled "Personal Privacy Versus People's Rights to Know," the Opinion department looked into how the Constitution of the Republic of Korea protects personal privacy. We Have To Protect Personal Privacy   Individual privacy is recognized by the Constitution of the Republic of Korea. People have the right to protect themselves. The Constitution is the highest law of the nation, because the will of all people created it for the basic order of the nation and the rights and obligations of the people. The Constitution is the basic ideology of all laws in the country. It is designed so that the state cannot infringe upon the people’s rights. It also contributes to the development of a free democratic country by stipulating the governance system of the country. Article 21 of the Korean Constitution stipulates that all citizens are free to press, publish, freely assemble and form a society. This is in

written by   10817 Jeong Daeun, In part three of the five part series titled "Personal Privacy Versus People's Rights to Know," the Opinion department looked into how delayed information affected the area. Delayed Information Affects People’s Rights to Know   The term “right to know” refers to each citizen's right to demand and receive all kinds of information and ideas unobstructed. Information here refers to information on state affairs in a narrow way but includes private company’s information, especially the mass media industry, military industry, and pollution industry. In other words, it means freedom of information. Specifically, it is the right to demand freedom of messenger activities in mass communication. It is the right of each citizen to demand information on state affairs. According to KBS, which reported on COVID-19’s right to know in August, “The recent increase in the number of confirmed COVID-19 has raised public anxiety. Furthermore, there a

written by   20725 Jung Jaewon In part two of the five part series titled "Personal Privacy Versus People's Rights to Know," the Opinion department looked into how businesses were affected by the right to know. The Right to Know Has a Bad Influence on Stores   For people’s safety, informing the route of infected people affected individuals and the surrounding buildings and stores that did nothing wrong in preventative regulations. Many stores greatly suffered in March and April, when the number of the infected population increased nationwide. People were reluctant to go to those stores when the routes of infected people were announced in the general area. The problem was that many stores have seen a sharp decrease in the number of people coming. Even though the infected people did not go through them, the stores nearby the infected route lost money. Last March, a group of infected people went to a restaurant in Daegu for about three minutes and left. The locat

written by 10308 Kim Chaewon,10817 Jeong Daeun,  20228 Hwang Uikyu, 20725 Jung Jaewon   In 2020, COVID-19 began to spread around the world. It is one of the worst global problems since it is a pandemic. Most countries have been struggling with it and going into lockdowns. Since vaccines have not yet been developed, governments worldwide are dealing with COVID-19 in many ways to prevent infected populations from increasing. Like South Korea, most countries have identified all of the infected people’s routes and quickly informed the public. However, some infected people argue that it is an act of violating personal freedom. In this situation, the conflict between personal privacy and the people’s right to know the infected person’s route intensifies. It could be a matter of the right to pursue happiness. One says that rapidly informing the public about infected people’s routes will lead to public happiness in South Korea. In contrast, the other says that it is significant to gua

What Is Your MBTI?

Image
written by 10803 Kim Eunjae   After the COVID-19 outbreak, people began looking for activities to spend time at home like making dalgona coffee, online learning and playing “Animal Crossing.” Most people became fascinated with the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator test (MBTI).         MBTI is a self-reporting personality type test designed by Isabel Briggs Myers and Katharine Briggs based on Jung’s psychological typology. It is easy to execute, so many institutions like school, military, and workplaces use it.   FOUR SECTIONS The first section is about energy. If someone likes to play with other people, that person is an E. E is motivated by extroversion. On the contrary, if someone prefers to be by themselves, that person should be I. I is simulated by introversion. The second category looks at recognition. Sense of S refers to people who value realistic things and focus on the present. The intuition of N relates to people who have a good imagination and like figurative expres

My Experience with the Dalgona Coffee Craze

Image
written by 20814 Park Chaerim I tried making Dalgona coffee in April. I did not have a machine to mix the ingredients, so it took me a long time to make this. My arms hurt from all the hand-mixing.  This drink was different from other coffee sold on the market. By mixing sweet coffee cream and milk, it is very soft. The taste was sweet so that everyone could enjoy it. I think it’s one of the good ways to have fun when you are bored. How to Make Ingredients:                       Coffee powder, sugar, warm water, mixing bowl,                      whisk or spoon or mixing machine and milk Step 1: Put the coffee powder, sugar, and water in a mixing bowl at a 2:1:0.5 ratio. Step 2: Mix all of these quickly. Step 3: After 15 to 20 minutes, the liquid turns into a soft brown cream. Step 4: Mix the cream in a glass of milk and drink it.

Dalgona Coffee Craze

written by 20814 Park Chaerim With the spread of COVID-19 in Korea, it has become difficult for people to go outside. The government asked for people to follow the social distancing guidelines in March. People were forced to stay at home and felt bored due to a lack of outdoor activities. People who spent a lot of time at home started the trend of making dalgona coffee after someone posted a video on YouTube of a Korean actor talking about it. Actor Jung Ilwoo, who tasted it in a Macau cafe, mentioned on the TV entertainment program Pyunstorang in January. He said that its taste was “similar to the taste of Korean dalgona.” This caused Koreans to call it dalgona coffee. Many YouTubers in Korea have produced a lot of content using dalgona coffee. Interesting videos were produced using this as an element of fun. There are contents such as making 30 cups of dalgona coffee without a machine,  making dalgona chocolate, and how to make this drink more delicious. Making dalgona cof

Leisure Time at Home

written by 20407 Bang Chaeyoung   The 2020 pandemic has controlled many activities. Places like karaoke rooms and libraries were shut down due to the fear that the virus would spread. Most people wore masks and stayed home. But while they were in their houses and apartments, people tried to find ways to occupy their time safely   In-house Theater   Since it became difficult for people to go to movie theaters, many people started enjoying cultural life through TV, Netflix and Watcha. Movie TV channels such as CGV and OCN often show movie series such as   The   Avengers   and   Harry Potter . The number of Netflix subscribers continues to grow as from the safety of their homes shown in the picture, presenting another type of media trend. The government is also encouraging cultural life at home. During this past Chuseok holiday, about 300 Korean movies were opened free on movie channels. People could watch movies that were very popular like P arasite   and E xit   easily.   Homemade Food

Due to social distancing, many activities, whether they were indoor or outdoor, were changed. Exhibitions, concerts and performances were restricted, postponed or canceled.
