In 2020, a great crisis spread quickly to become a worldwide pandemic, which threw the world into chaos. The whole world has become unable to live like before and is trying to correct each other’s problems.

Day-to-day confirmed patient-related messages have become a necessity, not an option in our present life. Life without a mask is hard to think of now.

More than ever, students spend more time at home because of school closures and are taking online classes. Instead of going to the office, adults are working from home while taking care of their families.

World leaders and people have blamed each other for the spread and handling of the virus. Some countries have become secretive about their research, vaccine development, data and numbers of COVID-19 patients. Other countries are following the World Health Organization protocols and working closely together to find a cure.

However, the virus keeps spreading, no matter how many lockdowns there are.

This situation showed that COVID-19 has to be solved on a global level and not alone. Therefore, each country needs to know what position it is taking and what the situation is in each country. Unlike MERS, the proportion of the infected people by COVID-19 was huge. It is not only a Chinese problem but also a global problem.

It is our wish that this infectious disease era will pass as soon as possible, and everyone will return to their happy daily lives.

In this five-part series, the Opinion section of the PRESS took an investigated look at four countries and how they are coping or dealing with the pandemic.
