With
the prolonged epidemic and the resulting social distancing regulations, people
are refraining from group gatherings. Also, they are limiting the number of
activities with other people. Most people have felt bored or tired because they
have to enjoy social activities through non-face-to-face meetings. People
cannot meet well.
The virus has affected our lives a lot. Many changes have taken place in terms of education, culture, social and economic aspects. Among the many changes, we could find common ground through online life.
From New York’s Broadway and London’s West End to the vibrant Australian theatre scene and beyond, digital stages have been opening their archives and broadcasting legendary past performances featuring actors, boundary-pushing directors, incredible sets and costumes.
People can have access to a variety of performances online. Viewers can get the best seats in the house. Most of the shows are free.
London’s most famous dance theater, the legendary Sadler’s Wells, has had its entire programming suspended for most of the year. Fortunately, it opened up its substantial digital vaults to present new content on its streaming platform Digital Stage during our current crisis. Some of its shows are streaming for free.
Online concerts are events where people watch singers perform their songs online at a specific time. The creation of online concerts was due to social distancing policies. It is an online concert without an audience being physical at the venue. These concerts are communicating with fans on-screen while performing on stage. According to the entertainment industry, it is not easy to simultaneously make an online real-time concert and video clips. However, online technology has developed to make it easier.
Since many people cannot gather together in a large concert hall, this allows the production company to do several things at once. The camera can record a singer’s performance separately, broadcast, and save the video in real-time through V LIVE, YouTube and Seezn.
BTS Online Concert Weekend was held on their official YouTube channel “BANGTANTV” from noon to midnight on April 18th and 19th. During the two days, the total number of views reached 50.59 million. The maximum number of concurrent users of the performance was 2.24 million, demonstrating the potential of BTS.
The opening of the physical contactless era led to a new culture of performing online.
These days social activities are limited. The rapid transition from the concept of space sharing to the personalized digital environment is taking place. Digital transfer phenomena such as online-ization are spreading in our lives. As a result, people expect that online-related industries will develop further. People will create and use social activities online, and online activities will increase in the future.
