Refugee: Accept or Not?

written by 10219 Jung Kyumin

It seems that many people are talking about this issue without fully knowing about refugee issues and Muslim religion. There are many unfounded stories about refugees in Yemen. As the number of Muslim refugees increases, many people believes that sex offenses increase and Koreans lose their jobs. Even now, there are many Muslims living in Korea, but there is no statistically high rate of crime for Muslims in our society.

With the controversy over the issue of accepting refugees in Jeju Island, justice minister Park Sang-ki is on the Blue House SNS program 11:50 am Presidential Office to answer the national petition for abolition of refugee applications.

According to the national answer, Korea will strengthen the examination. Regarding the worries about false refugees, Park Sang-ki, Minister of Justice, emphasized that Korea government will strengthen the verification of identity such as compulsory submission of SNS account when submitting refugees and also the government will strictly examine drug tests, infectious diseases and crimes.

Moreover applicants who are blind to abuse of the refugee system will consider not resorting to formal refugee screening procedures.

Furthermore the Blue House will also consider penalizing refugee brokers that promote illegal activities.

As it is a refugee problem implemented by Jeju Island law, it has also paid tribute to the progress of close consultation with Jeju Island. According to Cheong Wa Dae, the residence area of foreigners applying for refugees after entry into Jeju on March 30 is restricted to Jeju Island. In addition, on June 1, Yemen is added to the Jeju-unlicensed state, and there are no more Yemeni who apply for refugee status on Jeju Island.
