Valuable SAWL Places written by 10225 Jun Min-Ah
In Suwon Academy of World Languages, there are various hangouts for Sawlians. Since most students live in the dormitories, SAWL has essential and useful facilities. For instance, we can exercise at the gym or in SAWLA-C. We can play billiards and table tennis in different parts of the school. We can read papers or use computers at the book café (SAWL-GARAM). However, apart from them, we can find some other valuable places.
Pavilion
This place is located on a small hill
behind the main schoolyard. You can find it as you follow the small path up the
hill. Located on a high position, you can see the whole view of the school and
its surroundings. Also, sunset comes a shimmering sight around the whole school
and the city. During Spring, many cherry blossom tries are in full bloom through
the path and many Sawlians go there for pictures.
Small Park
This hidden gem is in front of SAWL’s main staircase. There are a few benches with flowers and plants. Moreover, not only people of SAWL visit the park, but other people also visit it and take pictures under the cherry blossom trees. Furthermore, it was shaped into a circle. So, Sawlians can occasionally go and walk around the park.
The Road
Here is another place that the students
can see a lot of cherry blossoms. The road next to the park, has many cherry
blossoms trees. Therefore, most students and teachers take pictures with
classmates, students, teachers, and club members.
SAWL Bridge
SAWL Bridge is one of the most useful places. SAWL Bridge has chairs, tables, sofas, and materials for reading. Students usually use it for rest, studying, and talking with friends. SAWL Bridge is located between Vision Hall and Venture Hall so many students utilize it for multiple reasons.
National Flagstaffs
This place is a symbolic part of SAWL. The students often take pictures with friends, attend Busking, and display some work on various anniversaries since the flags represent the five major languages that Sawlians learn.
In SAWL, like as these places, there are
many good places for students. They provide spaces for relaxation and leisure.
The Press interviewed a couple of SAWLians about their opinions on these valuable places.
Interview with Suh Minji, 1st grade English major:
PRESS: Where
is the most useful place of SAWL?
Suh Minji: I often use SAWL Bridge.
PRESS: Why
do you use that frequently?
Suh: That's
because it is a suitable place for taking a rest, group talking for some
projects, and doing homework.
PRESS: What
did you use the SAWL Bridge for the last time you went there?
Suh: A
few days ago, I saw displays of the history project that reminded SAWLians
about the historical problem between Korea and Japan. I think displaying the
posts at SAWL Bridge is a good idea because a lot of students and teachers go
there frequently, so the posts can gain attention from many people effectively.
PRESS: What
else do you want to say about the SAWL Bridge?
Suh: I
want to let them know that SAWL Bridge is a free zone. When students go there,
they can do anything they want. They can play games, study with friends,
practice for performance test, take a rest, etc. SAWL Bridge is a very helpful
place for everyone.
Interview with Ahn Seo Hyun, 2nd grade French major:
PRESS: Have
you ever gone to the small park?
Ahn Seo Hyun: Yes, I sometimes
go there with friends.
PRESS: At
the park, what do you usually do there?
Ahn: I usually talk with friends on the bench.
PRESS: What
is an advantage?
Ahn: There
are too many friends in the classroom, so I can't talk about some serious
topics with friends. However, when I go to the small park, I can talk with my
friend calmly.
