Sports Day is one of the most awaited and anticipated school events for all middle and high school students. As it is an event where many students and teachers prepare hard, the sports day has a positive effect on the unity of classes and students.

In addition, Sports Days often remain unforgettable memories of school days by uniting with friends through sports. However, since 2019, as COVID-19 spread, many schools did not hold sports days smoothly, and SAWL did not, either. However, on Friday, October 7th, 2022, the long-awaited sports day finally took place after three years.

Various games were prepared in the morning hours, and the students had lunch and some free time. After lunch, the Treasure Hunt event was held. The event was hosted by first-year physical education managers and teachers. Many students won prizes by searching for hidden treasures near the playground, pavilions, and counters for 15 minutes. Also, for friends who couldn't find the treasure, some students were given prizes through a random lottery. Through the event, the entire first grade was able to have a good time.

The next games were held while maintaining a pleasant atmosphere. The highlight of the sports day, the relay race was divided into preliminary and the final round. Four teams took part in one race, and eight runners in each team ran an entire circle each. In group A, Class 1-3 and 1-4 advanced to the final round, and in group B, Class 1-2 and 1-6 did.

The final round was held at the end of the schedule. All students focused on the starting line, and a whistle was blown. Class 1-2 led the race for a long time, however Class 1-3 made a reverse just before the last runner. Eventually Class 1-3 won the race with a narrow lead, and all runners high fived each other to congratulate their victory.

Most students said it was an awesome game, but some students complained that the scoring method should be changed. Relay race’s perfect score was 50 points, which is only half the score of other games. If this suggestion is accepted, then the next generations can have much more interest in a relay race.

17th generation Sawlians experienced two types of Sports Day: Mini-Sports Day and the official Sports Day. Types of sports day were not important things to Sawlians. They showed great satisfaction and passion in both sports days. These sports events provide the vigorous energy to enjoy SAWL life much better.
